Want to do something special for Lent? Here are some suggestions: Come to the Stations of the Cross at 6:30pm, or 7:00pm at St. Joseph’s in Norris every Friday during Lent. Come to the daily Mass at 7:00pm. Say the Rosary daily.

Penance Service

Mark your calendar: St. Therese Penance Service will be Wednesday, February 20th at 7:00pm. Other penance services in the area are:

  • St. Joseph’s in Norris: Wednesday, March 5th
  • St. Mary’s in Oak Ridge: Thursday March 13th
  • All Saints in Knoxville: Monday, March 17th

St. Joseph Lent Mission

Mark your calendar: February 24th, 25th, 26th. St. Joseph’s will have a mission. More details later.

Knights of Columbus

Meeting Tuesday, February 19th. Come join with our brothers at Mass 7:00pm and meeting at 7:30pm.

The Knights of Columbus Frish Fry Friday February 22nd at 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Public invited. Tickets are $6.00 for Adults, $3.00 for Children. KC members, we need workers at 4:00pm.

St. Joseph’s Fish Fry, Friday, February 29th. All you can eat! $6.00 donation (dessert extra). 5:30pm – 7:00pm in St. Joseph’s social hall. Public invited. Carry out available. Proceeds benefit Relay.

Please continue to support the gift card program. Remember you can sell the cards to other people, your neighbors, friends, relatives, etc. Proceeds benefit our building program.

Please remember to recycle your newspapers and mixed papers in our recycling bins.

Religious Educations

No Religious Ed classes this weekend. No adult Bible Study. Classes will meet as usual next weekend.

CCW

If you bought a cookbook and have not received the additional recipes, please let us know and we will make sure that you receive them. The completed cookbooks are now on sale. If you have not bought one, please do so. Cost: $12 each or 5 for $50. Proceeds go toward our building fund.

Our CCW is hosting the Cumberland Mountain Deanery Spring General meeting on Wednesday, March 5th from 9am to 2:30pm. $9 for lunch. Please call the church office to make reservations. WE NEED A LOT OF PEOPLE TO HELP serve food and set up. Please let us know if you are able to help.

In memory of Paul Woodson, Jellicorse (a former student of St. Joseph School who died unexpectedly), a dinner and dance event is planned at the Crown Plaza Hotel on March 1, 2008. Cocktails at 6pm, dinner at 7pm. Entertainment provided by Chris Gillespie, performer at the exclusive Carlisle Hotel in New York City. The c.hillbillies, a local musical group will also perform. Tickets $100 per person, proceeds go directly to St. Joseph School. Contact Patti Johanson, at 865-689-3424. Deadline February, 26th.

7th Annual Sister Jolita Irish Supper & Sing-a-long and auction is planned for Saturday, March 15th, from 5-8pm at St. Joseph’s School. Tickets $7.50 fro adults, $5 per child, or $20 per family. irish Stew, salad, rolls, dessert, and hot dogs for children. For more information, contact Patti Johanson, at 689-3424.

Operation Rice Bowl: Please be generous in supporting Operation Rice Bowl during Lent. This collection provides funds for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in their efforts to assist the many third world self-help projects that promote agriculture, nutrition and self-sufficiency! Seventy-five percent of the collection assists CRS projects overseas. The remaining twenty-five percent assists local diocesan antipoverty efforts through Catholic Charities. Your sacrifices and donations do make a difference!

Catholic Charities Sunday will be celebrated on February 24th, a day for people in East Tennessee to become aware of the amazing programs the agency provides. Representatives will be in many area chruches to provide information. did you know that Catholic Churities has recently named to Charity Navigator’s Top Ten list for fiscal responsibility? Our mission is to meet the needs of the poor and vulnerable of East Tennessee regardless of their religious affiliation.
